Personal Injury

When a resident of the State of Texas suffers a personal injury, that person has suffered damages associated with physical injuries, mental injuries or economic harm. If the damages were caused by the negligence of another person or business, then the victim may be entitled to receive compensation. A personal injury may be caused by the negligent act of a nursing home, the negligence of a tractor trailer driver, or the unreasonable conduct of a physician, among others. In Texas, the law allows for an injured person to bring a claim to recover for damages caused by the negligence of another party. A person may recover for lost wages, disfigurement, medical care, mental anguish and pain and suffering. The damages caused by the negligent conduct can also lead to wrongful death of a family member. In Texas, the recoverable damages for wrongful death include loss of companionship, mental anguish or pecuniary losses. Pecuniary loss means the loss of the care, maintenance, support, services, advice, counsel, and reasonable contribution, of a pecuniary value.
